There is nothing as special as having your work recognised by your peers. Last night was the final competition of the Capel Camera Club season with the Print of the Year competition.

All four of my colour prints earned recognition. My cat portrait won the large colour print, a portrait of endurance rider Katie Bedwin and Layla took second in the small colour print, Red running along the beach earned a honorary mention as did a landscape I took at Bourton-on-the-Water.

However, it is my mono print winner that is my favourite image of the whole year. It won portrait of the year a few weeks ago and last night it was up against some incredible nature images.

The judge explained my image entitled Motherhood had the edge because it was so full of emotion. The picture has so much meaning to me as it takes me back to the early days with my eldest, who is now 17. I can so relate to it on so many different levels.
