Horse-mad since childhood, Leslie Bliss LBIPP started out aiming to become a member of the British Young Rider Dressage Team while apprentice to dressage legend Dr Josef Neckermann, based with the world-renowned German trainer Conrad Schumacher.

Having retrained as a journalist following injury, she worked in the publishing industry for more than 20 years, including a decade as Dressage Editor of the equestrian bible Horse & Hound magazine and four years as British Dressage Website Editor. This is when Leslie grew to appreciate the art of photography and the power of the printed image.

Her journey as a professional photographer started when she was asked to "take a few snaps" to accompany her articles while working as a freelance writer for British Dressage magazine. It didn't take long for Leslie to become as passionate about photography as horses.

Leslie quickly became an expert at illustrating articles to the highest standard with her trademark intimate images. She has photographed many of the country's leading dressage riders, including Carl Hester MBE, and has worked as an accredited photographer at many top events, such as the Paralympics, Hickstead, Windsor and Olympia Horse Shows. Her work has featured in numerous publications from Horse & Hound, British Dressage, Horse & Rider to Horse Deals and Equestrian Trade News.

Since completing a year’s mentoring program in 2012 with Emily Hancock FBIPP, Leslie offers bespoke private photo shoots for individual, family, horse and dog portraits as well as providing wedding and commercial photography.

In 2014, she was accepted by the British Institute of Professional Photography (BIPP) and qualified as a Licentiate. Her assessment portfolio went on to win the BIPP Best Licentiate Award 2014.

Leslie’s work has been much admired for its sensitive nature, particularly her ability to capture the true essence and spirit of her subjects, creating intimate images to treasure in perpetuity.
