Why I love winter shoots

People always want to have photo shoots in the summer when they feel their horses look their best. The trouble is that the sun is also at its least flattering.
The winter sun gives us the most beautiful, soft light and I don't think there's any way you would call these Connemara ponies "hairy" despite it being November.
Another bonus is that there are no horse flies around. Give me a winter shoot any day.
And I so adore this shot of mother and son, the latter is appropriately known as the blond bombshell. Stunning models with the loveliest personalities, the lot of them.
